MARKET LADY & BELE DANCER SERIES

These eight paintings from the "Market Lady" and "Bele Dancer" series were created by local Grenadian artist Kristianne Buxo and was acquired directly from the artist in St. Georges, Grenada in 2024.

"Living on a small island poses many a challenge to artists like myself with the limited resources we have available to us. This makes support such as yours so much more meaningful.

I hope my work brings you many years of colour and joy. These pieces are a walk down memory lane for me. Growing up on Grenada I was fascinated by the grace and agility of the Market Ladies balancing their goods in baskets on their heads. Unfortunately, it is not something we see anymore. We do still have the Bele Dancers, and their swirling skirts are always a delight to witness!

All my pieces are signed in the Braille symbol for my initials. I thought it would be nice to keep the dotted texture going throughout..."
